Alltagsleben in Deutschland (E)
20. August 2005
Schellingstrasse 60. Ein Haus in München is a project by Goethe institute and Wolters Kluwer. The residents of a house situated in Munich present themselves in simple words. The site is easy to navigate and you learn how to get around quickly. Besides texts to read the site offers videos and audio files. You can listen to most of the texts provided on the site. This means that beginners (for whom the page is designed) can practice to read along. Unfortunately some of the speakers sound somewhat artificial (particularly some adults), but in exchange they are easy to understand. In order to use the audio and video material you need quicktime.
There is a lot of information provided concerning every day life in Germany. The learners can have a look at a german identity card, can listen to messages on an answering machine or read e-mails, recipes, menus and so on. Admittedly, there are no interactive elements.
conclusion:
In my opinion Schellingstrasse 60 is not only suitable for independent learners but also as additional material for guided instruction.
